You taught Littleman to fetch em up when they hit the deck, yet? You have it backwards, little man is teaching him to fetch up his fish. That is a great looking dog. I have ran English Setters and pointers for years. Love hunting behind good dogs and watching em work. Fixed it.

You and your dog look a lot alike Joe!!! Maybe You can join SCK's fuzzy dog club!!! That said were trying to house break a beagle puppy we got the kids for Christmas. A friend of mine told me how stupid beagles were compared to Labs and I hear that voice in my head every time she's doing something crazy!!!

They ain't stupid, they just act way so they can get away with it. That's smart in my books.
Get you a pocket full of rocks, when he acts like he cant hear you, just start chunking them rocks. He will wise up quick that you can reach him from a far.
If that don't work get more rocks.

Back when I was eliminating quail form Taylor county, I used a shock collar (light setting) on a pointer I called it a hearing aid
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Do you mind to share the location where you got pheasants? I am not for hunting, just want to take some pictures for this kind of birds. My hobby is wildlife photography. Thanks. I've hunted them in the panhandle of Oklahoma (Texas county). Its closer. They are not as plentiful as SD or KS for sure. But it is a good hunt just to get out. My Aunt moved to NM so I don't have the access I once had - bummer. I've seen deer, antelope and quail there among other critters of nature. The above pic was not taken by me. That is some kind of dog you have Kirk. I want a GSH but the wifey says no - 12lbs or less.

So Hickory nut, does your dog get on the boat? Before she got old, Pookie used to love the boat/fishing trips, and best I recall, would get an attitude if not invited. Personally, I have neither had boat dog, nor a lap dog, nor a truck dog...had a few hunters, and some guard dogs though
