I haven't been to Ivie in three years, is it worth a trip?

I don't have specifics but my friend has a place there and keeps her boat there. Seems to be a pretty fishy place. Seems to do well most of the time.

So over 800 folks have viewed this post and nobody is talking. I should probably take that as a sign. frown

Spence was reported to have a major fish kill due to Golden Algea. JB Thomas is down about 9'ft from last spring, not sure what the ramp situation will be there as it was a pretty flat ramp back then.

Such depressing news regarding bass fishing in West Texas. I have no other hobbies but am starting to wish my dad had yanked the rod-n-reel out of my hands when I was younger and replaced it with a 5-iron.

OH Ivie--so low the fishing has gone to pot
JB Thomas--finally catches some water then quickly loses it
Spence--people beat it to death and then golden algae shows up
Alan Henry--costs a king's ransom to go fish for 12-inch spotted bass.

Numerous others impacted by low water and the golden algae that typically shows up soon after.

Looks like I'll be burning up tires back and forth to Del Rio again this year.

Amistad hasn't been so hot lately either.

JB Thomas ramp is getting a little scetchy. I was there last week and you really have to get way out because it's so flat and the trailer was bouncing pretty good on some big rocks. I suggest if you go that you troll out into several feet of water before you start the engine. I just got through cleaning a lot of sand out of my cooling system.

This is sad... when I was in college Ivie was arguably the best big fish lake in the state. Maybe again one day
