I'm having a new Yamaha 115 SHO put on my old boat. It should be ready this week. If anyone is running this engine, do you have any tips or advice? I plan on using Yamaha brand oil and other products. Thanks in advance.

Be very careful how you break in that new motor. Do it by the book. This is very important for all new motors.

Only problem with this is the break-in procedure is different between dealers. Didn`t know this until a friend bought a new 2018 250SHO. He had a new powerhead installed 2 months prior. The instructions are different.

It's a little confusing on break-in procedure. The book says one thing and the dealer says another. My dealer told me to run the engine at about 3K rpms but not at a constant rpm/speed for the first 5 hours. After that I could go higher, but not at WOT for long. First service due at 20 hours, which is OK for me to do.

Follow the book or pay for the powerhead failure if you have one!
