Based on his needs, any kayaks over 60LB won't be good. Although the cart may help out in certain conditions, there are a lot of place where you have to carry it by yourself.

If a man can go 60 lbs he can go 64. roflmao Lots of good choices available today for someone your size. At a certain point if you can't demo paddle them all, you have to go with what you know and which model comes in a color you like best. Lots of good suggestions by others, I'll include one that has been very popular in south Florida and all along the east coast. Liquid Logics isn't a name most are familiar with but make the Manta Ray model for Native Watercraft. For a 12 foot kayak with 30 inch beam, its one of the most comfortable and best handling kayaks I've ever been in. You won't see them on Craig's List very often and are usually snatched up quick. If you think you might enjoy doing other things besides just fishing in a kayak, this one would be high on my list. Lots of folks will swear by the high chair seating but when the wind blows you'll love this one. You may be fishing the pond today, but if paddling gets in your blood, you'll be on the salt water flats later. Get a time proven hull, Wilderness Systems Tarpon 12O, Perception Pescadore Pro, Native Manta Ray 12.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
