Buying a new WeldCraft flat bottom , 17 foot with a 70 hp and jack plate. Step pontoons on back with center console . Plan on installing safe floor top side and deck . Gonna be rigging out for floundering but dealer doesn’t feel I need a tunnel . I think I do !! Any thoughts from you guys in the know ???? farmer

I like my tunnel. See Pat Goffs comments in the jet thread about tunnels.

i think it all depends how much you fish in the backwater. almost a necessity there, but not so much in the bay. that jack plate is a game changer too, good call.

It's you choice, not the dealers. A tunnel hull won't hurt you and can only help. I'd get one.

Non tunnel can run in a foot, get up in two.
Tunnel when it's setup properly can run in 4" get up in about a foot.

The compromise,
Tunnel will cost you speed, lot's more water drag, and it won't handle as good. Which on a flat bottom tin boat isn't exactly it's strong point anyway.

Really depends on what bay you're wanting to fish. Galveston? Meh, not much help. Port O'Connor and south? It's a really big deal.
