On the 1-26-18 I ordered some Simms wading pants that they had advertised in the bargain cave fly fishing area. It said they would ship direct from the manufacture and were in stock. I have waited and talked to them wondering where they were at because the only info it gave me was my order number and that they were shipped. Now today I get this email stating my order has been cancelled due to a major pricing error and the vendor will not ship them out. I was issued a refund. Please allow 7-10 business days for the credit to post.

Sorry but I don't feel this is my fault because they posted the wrong price. Since it was posted on their site I really think they should have to honor this.

I bet if you argue you will get them at that price or at least end up with some credit.

It's perfectly legal. A pricing mistake was made and caught. Yo u were made whole again by your refund. You were not out anything in the end.

I'm sure there's an "advertisement price disclaimer" posted somewhere.

I guess what makes me so mad is that my order status had showed "Shipped" since the 1-30-18 so I missed another sale on some year end close outs because I thought I already had some.

The bargain cave shipping from the manufacturer is the first red flag I read in your post.

As a former employee of Cabelas I can tell you that the items in the bargain cave are all clearance, damaged, or returned items. The manufacturer has nothing to do with the pricing in the bargain cave has written off most of the products therein.

The only way it is illegal is if you can prove they did it on purpose, ie. bait and switch. Just based on your original post, that does not look like what happened.

Ive come to realize that Cabelas has awful customer service. I wont shop there anymore over an item they refused to make some right on. I wish bass pro had not of bought them. Theyd be gone in a few more years.

The Cabelas Bargain Cave is not really a bargain.
Their late January sale on winter clothing is pretty good. I picked up a couple of soft flannel shirts for $14.88 each. They still have them:

In tiny print, most likely.

Really? I guess the same reason they don't feel bad when I buy a rod for $129 then at Christmas they run them for a week at $39.

Don't offer me a deal and tell me it was shipped then 14 days after the order say "oops"

I feel a strongly worded email is the proper course of action here.

Might even throw in an addendum on that bad boy. That will show them.

One time I fat fingered a price on a car online. 30,000 was 3,000. Guy calls the next morning and argued to no end I "had" to sell it for that.

Sounds like you skinny fingered it to me.

Its not illegal, is just poor business sense. They should honor the deal they offered and take it up with the vendor. As a vendor, I probably wouldnt be real happy with their mistake and I may or may not help the retailer out, depending on the situation, but the retailer needs to honor it.

Its not illegal, since they repaid you in full. Its just a double whammy for them because now youre spreading the word that theyre not honoring the deal they offered.

I don't understand... How is this is a sales tactic? They don't get anything from it. What do they gain here but bad publicity?

Door buster. Got you on the website with a great deal in hopes youd nose around and grab a few more items along with the deal.

How is it dishonest? It seems to me the store is pulling the rug out from under a customer because the store made a mistake.

There is no honesty involved. He isnt cheating them or stealing. He is complaining they wont honor a price they advertised. If anyone is dishonest, its the store.

I agree with the above. It might be different if we were talking about a rare (or unique) item, like an old trapdoor Springfield. But for ordinary merchandise, Mark summed it up well.

The bare boat without a trailer or any rigging cost more than that price.
