Echo Base is $89-99. Heard good things, but haven’t personally tried one. It listed as a Medium fast action which in my opinion are easier to cast starting out than the fast action rods. Rod comes with tube and sock and lifetime warranty. Heck of a deal sounds like to me.
That cabelas synch that Larry mentioned sounds nice too. Sounds like it might be a little slower action than the Echo Base which is not a bad thing.
Slow, think fiberglass noodle, Bend all the way into the rod butt. Fast, think board, only really the tip flexes in the cast. Medium fast flexes a little deeper into the rod and medium even deeper still.
Since you are getting the 5-7 weight reel for free, you can go to a 5 weight if you think you will be after trout and a 7 if you are more inclined to go after Bass. The five weight lets you cast nymphs, dries, terrestrials, and small streamers for trout and others and the 7 weight will be able to cast bigger, more wind resistant patterns like deer hair poppers.
I like a 5 weight for bass, too, but only for casting small to medium sized patterns. A five weight is less tiring to cast overall if matched with an appropriate sized fly. A five weight is much more common on a trout stream than a seven weight. Seven weight line isn’t going to land as soft as five weight line.
