Looking to add some green lights to the back of my boat for night time crappie fishing. I know they sell submersible lights you can just drop in the water on a cord. I want to get set up with the flick on with a toggle switch. Any advice on what kind of lights, whats the best and brightest, easy to set up?

I went to eBay, bought a couple 5 meter rolls of very bright green light and installed the on the underside of my rub rail, wired to the fuseblock (spare hole), ran it to an accessory switch on the dash...and all I have to do is flip the accessory and the lights come on...they dont draw any amperage, so dont have to worry about using a separate battery...and they work very well for drawing night time crappie, allowing you to see, and keeping the bugs by the water..

What crapicat said. Try to get 5630 LED strips if you can. I believe they are the brightest LEDs out there. You can run 2 strips side by side around the boat to make it brighter if you like. Pictured is my boat with 1 strip of the 5630 around the boat. It works pretty good.

Is it better to have them submersed under the boat for bugs, here the bugs are bad if they are above the water. I see the 5630 strips on Amazon, would be easy to put on and just run to a toggle switch on the console. Seems like in that picture they are putting off a bunch of light as well.

Had mine under the rail but didnot care for it. Took a 16ft light strip and wound it around a 3/4 pvc, inserted it in a 1 1/2 clear Pvc tube . Weighted one end capped it and capped the other with 15ft of cord and wired it to switch in the boat with quick disconnect plug. I have 1 for each side of the boat. Can adjust the depth to suit my needs.
