Can't hold it no longer. The old Wiggle Warts are the best cult following since the kool-aid drinkers. I'm 71 years old. I have a bunch of old Wiggle Warts I bought myself before most of you guys were born. I even some some my dad bought before I was old enough to buy my own. Some times they're good. Some times they're not. Day in, day out, I catch more fish on the new Phantom Green Craw with the orange sanded off than any other. Don't ask why. I just sand the orange off.

I'm inclined to agree with Richard. I doubt most people can tell the difference between the old and new. I really cant't.

They are rock lures. I agree with that. Won't come through wood worth a poop.

Yes, Topwater 2, they are fishing machines, but so is everything else at right time and right place.

Buy the new ones. Throw 'em parallel to rock banks in 4 - 10 ft. of water and a lot of the time you get bites, but sometimes you won't.

Buy another $50.00 worth of Kool-aid. They are plenty of people selling them. Throw 'em parallel to rock banks in 4 - 10 ft. of water and a lot of the time you get bites, but sometimes you won't.

It only takes a short while after a Pro makes a off the cuff remark about a certain bait, then it goes on the internet and gets parroted on all the fishing forums.
A lure cult is born with facts and claims by all manner of fishers, even if they've only caught a handful of fish on that bait.
A fisher has to fish any lure a whole lot, and catch a whole lot of fish on it before he even begins to notice the subtle differences.
A whole lot of fish takes a whole lot of time to catch, that most simply are unable to put in.

I too have a couple of the old ones I bought back before I was old enough to buy one. Havent used them in 30 years and by the time I used them long enough to be able to tell the difference I would have probably lost them, so I have a conundrum of sorts. Ill just look at them in the tackle box every once in a while.

The Wiggle Wart was introduced in 1975 that would have made you 29 years old. How old did you have to be to be able to buy your own?

What makes a WW a good cold water crank bait (or better than others)?

I have a 3 original WW. They are all different, and all make a different sound.

I think thats what makes some of them special. They are all different. Erratic action. Some requiring significant tuning.

I ordered two from Rapala and two Curve 55's from 6th Sense. I will be throwing them on Falcon this weekend along with some other new stuff. Hope to show them something that not every tom, dick, and harry throws at them. It's hard to put my topwater baits down but we'll see how it goes. Three days on Falcon.....hard to sleep at night.

To me it's the wider wobble they give to a mid depth crankbait, only other bait you can get that type of wobble is a square bill
