Your question is kinda wide most units are chirp now.

The best thing I can tell ya is catch a crappie putt it 7 to 9 foot below your transducer and take screen shot of the fish with chirp on , then turn your 2d chirp off in your settings and take screen shot s and see if this helps .then you'll know what setting are best for you finding crappie again.

200 kHz. We dont fish deep enough for chirp to be a benifit.

I have heard this same thing before but I didn`t want to sound negative about this type of sonar although I`m sure there is a use for it.I have three Chirpless units on my boat and I do just fine.
