I believe that is up to the sweet Lord baby Jesus

Yes, but stress can hasten the process and make people look and act older than they really are. That is why I totally do not understand people, male and female, who seem to go out of their way to worry about something, anything. Life is too short to live in that constant state of misery but some folks seem to be addicted to it.

Some of us HAVE to work commission jobs, pay me by the hour and I'd be a social misfit. Lost and confused.

Sorry to hear your situation Patt. Life is too short, you should take a fishing trip with Cindy.

how does one get to become a sales person? I'd like to move into technology sales, but can't get my foot in the door because I've never been a sales person.. but our sales people bring me in all of the time from Operations to help them sale clouds... beccause the techies like to talk to us techies...

But i get not piece of that commission..

Rip some Lips ya'll.

Mo...go to the VP of sales and tell him you are interested. They wont come to you, production teams or client service teams are so important to a successful client/customer partnership they more than likely would not come to you.

I have made my career about bringing folks up from the plant and client service areas and teaching them the ropes. It is critical that anyone I bring up knows the ins and outs of the product being produced and understand the urgency associated with building a relationship that will last with clients.

Most Sales groups are more worried about taking care of their clients (bank money) and fear pulling the best assets they have from other departments. I don't think that way but many do.

I love watching people grow and thrive!

Let yourself be heard in the most polite yet firm way if you truly want that change.....I took a 30% pay cut 25 years ago to go into sales, its not as easy as one may think unless you set goals and are a solid customer centric thinker.

Being a good person with sincere client interest is a key to winning in sales...so is getting up early!

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

The gap between a commission job and something else is totally up to your own personal traits.

If you think an hours work is entitled to an hours pay youre going to struggle. That and the fact that regardless of what youve got you wont win every time. And sometimes its your own people that jack up a little reject.

But if you stay your course, answer your phone and show up youll be amazed at how lazy most of your competitors really are. Most of my projects take 18 months to be sold so its not a quick payday. But its a very rewarding career if you work for the Customer and not the paycheck.
