I got me a new Garmin that has side and down imaging. Would you install it on the front on the trolling motor or back of the boat and why? I mainly fish for crappie.

At the console. That's where you'll spend your time looking for structure, etc. Then use your electronics up front to stay on what you found at the console.

I would use it on the console because of the side imaging. It is a lot easier to scan large areas with your big motor versus your trolling motor.

Ill second this. In my opinion, SI on the front for crappie isnt really necessary. 90% of the time youre fishing straight down anyways on brush.

Put side imaging at the console alot easier to find structure while sitting down idling the big motor vs standing up running a trolling motor and trying to read the side imaging
