The same guy has the record in Maryland and Maine. That's pretty cool.

That was northern strain and to my knowledge the largest on record. (Unless you count Perry's fish, but that's a story for another day).

Typo or transcription error ?

You're probably right. That would be awesome if it were the case though.

Just looked it up and some guy name Robert Kamp caught the state record.

Did some reading on that Massachusetts bass. Theres more to the story on that one also. It was caught ice fishing with a live shiner. Some say the lake he caught it at was subsequently sprayed by a drunk crop duster, wiping out much of the lakes great genetics. Others say that the true location of the catch was not reported; it was caught in another lake that gets some salt water from the Atlantic and the fisherman fibbed on where it was caught because he was worried that it wouldnt count as a freshwater record.

You have to travel all the way to South Carolina to find a state record heavier than the Massachusetts bass
Some try to explain the anomaly by saying that the very coastal edge lakes of Massachusetts have much milder winters compared to the rest of the state.

Nobody is arguing it was Florida strain though correct?
