Still think beating dottie is the real goal... they do grow that big once in a while. I understand why he didnt certify though

Also if japan fish is what i remember i it should be stand alone record. DUMB igfa rule about it having to beat old record by 2 ounces, it was 1 ounce bigger... its bigger give it to the man

Considering the credibility of the Perry bass I think the Japan fish should be a lock at number 1.

My other theory is that Texas lakes don't hold up as well to fishing pressure as deep clear California water. Because of the stained water, fish are forced to spawn much shallower on average. Sure some are going to spawn out deep, but most are going to be 8 feet or less. It's much easier to effectively fish 8 feet of water even if its stained. In California I've heard of LMB spawning in 20 feet+. At that depth, even if you know they are there fishing for them is not going to be easy. So long story short, I think big bass get hit harder during the spawn in Texas than they do in California. That's just a pure theory on my part though.

I know you're aware of the fact that those Ca. bass gorge on Trout and the lakes being 150+ ft deep gives some room to hide.

BTW.I keep referring to your book every once in a while.

Correct. Dottie had been caught at least three times prior.

The angler confessed that he foul hooked her. He made no attempt to try to lie about it. You have to give credit where credit is due. Had he not confessed to foul hooking her, the current World Record would be Dottie at 25 lbs 1 oz. That's a LONG way from 22 lbs 5 oz folks.

I am going to make this post but it will upset some. If all remember a few years ago when Toledo was 10' down and then refilled it created the new lake effect that eventually moved it to #1 in the country. I fished it a bunch and it was unbelievable what you could catch. What I am saying is if Texas were to do that on a 5-7 year basis on some of their big fisheries and create the New Lake Effect with vegetation etc. and do this on a cycle of 5-8 years I believe overall the fisheries would all be incredible. Toledo was the hot lake and now not so much the grass is coming back in certain areas but IMHO it had nothing to do with the draw down. I will leave biologist to try and explain that. I do know that when a lake is drawn down tremendously and then refilled to full pool that the fishing is off the charts for the next few years. I you look at the lakes in central Texas that were awesome ( OH Ivie etc.)You don't hear about them like you did 2 years ago. The New lake Effect is proven to work and establish a nutrient rich environment to grow all species.
