i got the dreaded 1st mowing of the year of the zoysia done today...only lowered the wheels 1 notch so it didn't take alot off...cleaned up the leaves and pine needles really good...

now on to fertilize with liquid 20-20-20...not a fan of it but "they" say it's best for zoysia...any suggestions of granular fertilizer for zoysia???

Peters brothers 20/20/20 is good stuff for the water solution. I have been know to use it in the garden as well.Get a inline fertilizer attachment and run it through the sprinklers.

I'm going with Texas Tee this year. I've used a lot of different "organic" mixes over the years with good results. But it's a pain having to spread out different mixes, so I'm going with a good blend of ingredients in one pellet.

I'd call Maestro Gro and see who the dealer is in your area.

http://maestro-gro.com/texastee6-2-4.aspx

That said there is another good one called Magnificent Earth made by Bluebonnet feeds. I'm not 100% sure if BB still makes it as I haven't used it in a couple years. But I'll call them tomorrow. Any local feed store that is a BB dealer can get it if they still produce it.

Texas Tee will cost me about me $60 per application. I stick to the holidays. Easter, Memorial, July 4th and Labor.

Mag Earth should cost about the same if you apply at 10lbs per 1000. They recommend 20lb per, but if your soil is in good health and I believe yours is, you can drop to 10lb per.

I turned all my mowing and fertilizing over to two companies.

They will mow and edge and blow the grass cutting for $20 per yard.

I have Citi-Turf now administer like 8 treatments per year at 45 buck per pop. Best my yard has ever looked.

Too early for the foliar fertilizers. The plant won’t even take it in yet. Maybe in 30-45 days. For now I would put down milorganite or hou actinite. Both organic fertilizers. It will sit there until the plant can take it in. No warm season grass truly growing yet.

That Texas Tee sounds good too. Expensive though. It’s chicken waste vs the milorganite and houactinite is human waste. Overall same results . Houactinite much cheaper though.

Texas Tee is about the same price. $25 per 4000sq feet. Milor $25 per 5000. TT does smell worse though.

Texas Tea is amazing stuff. I used to use it all the time.

Get ready for your yard to smell absolutely wonderful for the first day or two grin
