I have a helix 9 without chirp. Having problems getting it dialed in. What are the best settings for sonar to show arch’s. Also, best settings for locating fish and structure on the down and side imaging. I have messed with the sensitivity and other settings and just can’t get the picture I think I should be getting. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Youtube tutorials are an excellent way to get started, then off to the lake. Make notes and go, interpolate , make adjustments.

One of the best ways to tune the unit is when you find something of interest use the arrow buttons to activate the cursor. Doing this will freeze the screen. Then you can adjust your settings and color pallets to fit what you wanna see on your graph. Match chart sppees to boat speed. For 2d start using the 83khz. It has a wider coverage so the fish will stay in the cone longer and a better chance of creating an arch

Yea, I keep my chart speed the same as the boat and I do use the 83 kHz. I’ll try the pausing it and changing the settings while the scene is paused. I do watch the you tube videos also. Was checking to see if there were any tips and tricks I might be missing. Thanks for the info!!

I have the same unit. I run it at 2 for scroll speed trolling or anchored. When I’m scanning I change to 4 and then my boat speed at 4 mph. My sonar sensitivity is set at 18 almost all of the time unless I’m in about 15 ft or less which is rare. DI stays at around 16 almost all of the time. SI is the one I adjust most. 16 is about as high as I go in 35 ft +. 20-35 I adjust to what looks the best mostly from 12-16. I never use fish id. I use 5 for the color palette on sonar because I want red to be the hardest returns. Hope this helps and is somewhat what you were looking for.
