My wife has never fished a tournament but shes a ton better looking than my normal partner. Ive looked at CAST and Texas Bass Couples but both require that if you are new to their trail, you must fish the first event of the year. I want her to have a positive experience, and the potential for cold weather in January and February is too strong. Can you offer a suggestion of a couples friendly trail that we can fish later in the spring or early summer?

I looked at those also with my wife. We're in a similar situation where we can't get to every tournament but would love to fish just some. Not interested in AOY. We would love to just jump in on a tournament at our home lake when it comes to town once a year, but with family we can't as easily drive way off to other lakes. I suspect they seem to be scared of "jackpotters" which is why they want you to pay for tournaments you don't fish. Other trails just require a yearly membership fee, but you still pay something extra either way. I don't necessarily blame them since it takes a lot of effort to run these things, but I do think it limits their potential payout by creating barriers to anglers like me and my wife who are otherwise willing to donate to that day's tournament knowing we've never won anything.

The wife and I are starting this year with Texas Bass Couples... I dont know your location, but we are actually starting the trail on a hot water lake February 4 (Martin Creek) This is the first year that we are able to make the tournaments, but have been in contact with the organization for 2 years. They seem to a very fun group to fish with... You only have to fish 4 out of the 6 to qualify for the championship I believe so missing a tournament or two is not a big deal... I would highly recommend this trail.
But if your not looking to join till march time or so I would just search for a local club that fishes once a month and join there...

Texas Bass Couples requires you become a member before the conclusion of the first tournament in the region you wish to fish, you don't have to fish it. If you join later it will cost you the membership plus two tournament fee's.That tournament and the next tournament. Contact the directors of the region you wish to fish. They can answer your questions. My wife and I have fished with Texas Bass Couples for years and like it very much. Our region, Central is really laid back and has a bunch of good couples (sticks) in the region.

Thank you whnigt, that it exactly what we were wanting to do. Like toofy, she and I will only fish one or two total tournaments each year. I already fish several other tournament trails, but want to get her involved. I understand jackpotters, but once they know us, they'll know we don't fit that category. Paying extra is expected absolutely, but I just want her to have some 50 plus weather versus the 25 and windy we've seen lately.
Tim B, I will call you this week, sounds like the perfect deal for us.
THANK YOU!!

Your wife will have a positive experience if you fish TBC Metroplex Division because first tournament is January 28th at Squaw Creek in Glen Rose and you can catch a ton of 3 pounders there.

there are three good tournements that you may be interested in checking out one is the big bass bash on lake palestine and the other two are on lake fork the big bass splash and the berkley tourney. they are a lot o fun and you dont have to have a big stringer to win money payout is by the hour and only need one fish to win in that hour. check them out.

I can't find any info on the big bass bash on Palestine for this year. Only thing I see is from 2015 about Palestine and 2017 results
