put in layers of potato slices, venison madallions, onion slices and bacon slices. put at least 2 series of these layers and about 1/2 cup water or broth. salt, pepper and garlic added. in the original recipe in the dutch oven, you bake in oven for 2 1/2- 3 hrs., so i'd give it at least 5-6 hrs in the slow cooker. worth a try. might even top with a layer of biscuits?

I like the idea in the slow cooker save the biscuits. Dutch oven yes where the biscuits can brown up and form a crust of sorts but in a slow cooker they would be soggy at best.

i couldn't stand it. thawed some back strap out and put this thing together. as usual, i played with the recipe some. put some bell pepper slivers and carrot slices in it. yeah, i think you're right about the biscuits in a slow cooker. i'll do em on the side. i'll post up the results.

food Certainly looks tasty! Thank you for sharing the recipe.

well, i can't believe it, but the venison came out dryish. i've done this recipe in the dutch oven and the meat was moist and good, but in the slow cooker it came out dry, at least more dry than i like. . biscuits came out good and the gravy was perfect for soppin.

everything else was really good

In general, this section of cooking "slow cooking" is quite heavy and painstaking, but it's worth it, because with this cooking technology, most vitamins remain

This looks wonderful. I need to make this a regular meal. We got lots of de-boned venison in the freezer from this season.

I'd like to add one idea. My wife makes the best pot roast ever. she uses cream of mushroom soup instead of broth. That might make this venison crock pot recipe go over the top though. LOL

You guys inspired me. I bought all the ingredients today and pulled the venison out of the freezer to defrost. I can't wait to try it
