Anybody have any info on this lake as to how it fishes? Water level fluctuation, etc...
Have been offered an opportunity to go in on a small house on the water down there and we were wondering how the lake sets up.

Shallow muddy "red" colored lake. I moved out here in 1991 from Wills Piont so the lakes were quite a shock. When i moved here the lakes were all full and the rivers were running. People said not to get used to it, and boy they were right. Ive lived thru two 10-year droughts since, and i assume that droughts are just a way of life forever out here. As for real-estate I am considering buying a lake house as well, but it would have to be closer to east Texas for me. You might do well at Stamford but the time to buy was when it was very low a couple years ago. Depends on the price I suppose.
I have been waiting for OH Ivie to fill up for about 20 yrs. now, and tell people all of the time that, "a man can run out of life waiting on a West Texas lake to fill up". I can say I wish I would have bought a few lake houses out here before the rains, even on Stamford, but you just dont know if that will be 2 years or 30 years. Stamford will be great for a few years at least so maybe you can flip it and do well. Good luck!
I will tell you that Stamford produces some great bass fishing and will be prime in the next few years. I actually caught a 8lb bass with the first flip of a jig into cat tails on Stamford. Honest to God, first flip into the lake and allot of nice bass thru the years.

I hunt near it. The hunting is good. The lake is usually muddy.

Spent a lot of time on that lake as a kid. Started out fishing for crappie off the Fish-Haven crappie barge back in the early 60s. Remember fishing almost every Sunday during the winter and watching the Cowboys play on the TV they had hung up on the inside.
