Well, one thing is that you can always go back to mono as so many of them are so greatly improved now. Maybe you are trying too hard to "like" and use fluoro. I know there are circumstances where fluoro is the line of choice.
No, cold weather has less effect on fluorocarbon than other lines. It is often preferred by ice fishermen for this very reason. Since the really good fluoros don't absorb water, they aren't as subjected to turning stiff, freezing up.
Nope, fluoro does NOT burn easily, at least not as easy as mono. Someone said that way back and it has been picked up and repeated as a mantra ever since. It is just a much more dense line than mono and certainly braid, so when you tie a knot with it, it is a bit harder to get a good tight knot in it. An analogy? It's a bit more like tying a knot in a piece of light wire used for hanging pictures . . . harder to tug down into a snug knot.
I use Invisx, like it as leader material. Sufix Elite is a super monofilament if you retreat that direction!

vanish 4lb test is all you need Which one? All Vanish breaks at 4 pounds. It's why it's called "Vanish"..... as in the fish vanished with my lure. Or contact with the bottom of the lake made my lure Vanish.

I like the Sunline Super Flouro. Its their little less expensive line but I have never had any problems with it. Runs about $15 for a 200 yard spool and about $45 for a 660 yard spool.

HATED that red label bs. A friend of mine convinced me to try fluro one time at walmart for our trip the next day.. Got #12 red label spooled on a Concept C, had nothing but issues all day. After about an hour I ripped all that [censored] off and spooled up with what I usually use
The GOOD STUFF is Seaguar Invizix. I use it mainly for a braid leader

I've used mostly Red Label in 15, 17 (when they used to make it) and 20 with no problems. I spool 50 yds at a time and replace when I start getting down to my splice knot to the backing when casting. I did have some trouble with 8lb on spinning tackle. I use mostly P line in the lighter weights. Can't see spending more money if I don't have to.
