I may be needing a brake controller kit installed on my ole' truck. I live in Hitchcock. If you know of anyone close by that can do this properly, let me know. I could possibly taking over a 24' Ultralite RV... bumper pull.

If your truck has the factory towing package it is fairly easy to do a controller installation. The wiring is already there with a plug down under the steering area. Other wise it,t a little deeper. You can buy a quality controller for what the shops will charge to install. Most RV dealers and hitch places can do the job.

Go to Terry Vaughn RV right there next to you in Alvin. Had them install brake controllers on two of our trucks. Don't really remember how much they charged but it wasn't too bad.

My F150...04' I don't think it has a towing pkg nor the setup u refer to. It' a plain jane 4.6l 2wd auto ext. cab. I have never tried to pull anything other than my boat and its 20ft., no brakes on my new trl. I'll look up that place in Alvin. I need to get all the info I can regarding pulling this 24' ultralite rv. Thanx for the info fellas

If your truck had a factory hitch in the back, then it likely has the plug for the brake controller. But if you don't want to mess with it, I think most places charge around $75 to install it.

Regarding your camper, if it's a full size travel trailer (not a pop up) then you really should take a hard look at your truck and camper specs before trying to get that truck set up to pull that camper. A few questions:

What is the total length, total dry weight, and total cargo capacity of your trailer?
What rear end does your truck have?
How far and how often will you be pulling the trailer?
