Water Depth Philosophy...

After a 10+ year break from bass fishing, last summer I return to Lake Fork and hired a guide for the first day of fishing . I was stunned that in July we were up beating the bank. I assume that we hired a sorry guide until we started catching fish in three feet of water. I asked The guide " where did all of the Hydilla go?". The lake was not as clear as it used to be and when we did go deep in the afternoon, deep was 17 feet of water. I would have started fishing from 20 to 28 feet, had I not hired a guide, based on my previous experience at fork. This coupled with the fact that I live and fish in the West Texas area where we fish some small, some shallow, some muddy, some clear deep lakes, I wonder what theory that some of the more experienced tournament anglers have developed on what depth the fish will be at during the summer and winter seasons when they go to an unfamiliar lake. There are lakes around me that I would never fish deeper than 6 foot of water summer or winter. There are some I wouldn't fish Less than 20 ft summer or winter. I assume that the total depth of the lake is one of the determining factors, and water clarity . Compare Fork to Tawakini, I have never caught fish (bass) in 20+ft of water Carolina rigging at Tawakini but obviously Fork is another story. What's The difference between these two sister lakes that are really not that the similar in structure and timber and soil type ? I'm sure this conversation can open up a big can of worms but I appreciate in advance all of your experience and knowledge sharing, thank you!

Sorry about the voice recognition typos. I hired a guide, not the heart of God. On second thought, I did catch a nine pounder and several six and 7 pound fish. It was the trip of a lifetime so maybe it was the heart of God with me !!

I would start by deleting this post, making a new one and actually typing a legible, comprehendible question. Who knows though, maybe someone can read it and give you a good answer.

When you get on the whiskey let somebody else type. I felt so much safer after he replied that he was dictating the post instead of typing. But was thrown off again that he didn’t even proof the post before submitting. Smdh

Even if you do not proof read your text before you submit it, you can always go in and edit it to correct it.

I have seen it all now....TFF grammar police. Next up, Craigslist! TFF provides spell check free of charge, why not use it ? Location of periods and commas are also a big help if you're wanting readers to better understand your post but those are your responsibility. The OP ask for responses and he got them.

Well….. I suppose this wasn’t such a bad post after all! The revised post has zero replies, but I suspect this one is not done yet, since I can’t figure out how to delete it. Heck I may go viral, and get one of those adds that you all have to watch before you can continue wearing me out! Like on YouTube! I’m going to be RICH!!
