Anyone fish lake Holbrook this time of the year. Looking to fish it around the 9th or 10th of Feb. Never fished the lake just wanted to see if it is worth fishing.

Pretty small but pretty lake. Far north end very stumpy, south end easy to navigate with several nice points. I fished it quite a bit in Sept. and Oct. Water is fairly clear but not much grass. Only fished it once during the spawn and the sight fishing wasn't good but there were plenty on beds to be caught but no bigguns. One launch ramp but it's free and has a courtesy dock.

There are 3 ramps but one you can only park a couple of trucks at.
15 years ago, Holbrook was fantastic and you could catch some really good fish on it. Then Al Gore invented the internet and bass clubs began swarming it every weekend in the spring. The fishing is mediocre now.
This holds true for most small lakes around here now.

Early February I think would be rather slow on Holbrook but it is a good lake just like the Wood county lakes, Hawkins, Quitman and Winnsboro. Worth checking out and trying the others too.

Grew up on Winnsboro, fished all those lakes as boy and youngster, it'll be hit or miss pray for some warm weather and you can have a heck of a time.. Biggest from Holbrook is a hair under 7 in the last 10 yrs. before that, some bigguns.
Good luck

We had a lake house on Holbrook in the early 70s to early eightys. lake was full of grass and was a fisher mans dream for bass and crappie. but in the late 70s the grass began to die out. herd that the tx parks and wildlife was killing it off. ? haven't been there since 1980 but was thinking about fishing it this april. I loved that lake, lot of memories.
