Mag Flukes, 5" and 6" Senkos, 1 and 1 1/4 oz football jig with Rage Craw trailers, 3/8 and 1/2 oz flippin jigs, 3/8-3/4 oz tungsten bullet weights, lots of them, bobber stops, flippin'/pitchin' baits, BIG hooks. Superline hooks on all but senkos. Use a lighter wire hook on them. 4/0 or 5/0, spinner bait, square bill and DD cranks. I wouldn't discount a c-rig either. That said, I've not been in years, so none of those things may be working right now. 20lb and 25# fluoro, 65# braid for snaking C/Bs through tree tops. Flippin' sticks and fast reels. Go see James and Tommy at Falcon Lake Tackle. They'll have every bait you want plus up-to-date info. This was the best advice posted yet. I've fished it several times from a kayak and a bass boat. No need for a gun....leave it in the hotel or truck if you choose. I've NEVER had an issue and I'm a scrawny white boy that could easily be overtaken if someone was looking for trouble. I've had solo trips out there in the kayak problem free. As far as tackle....it depends on how you fish. If you are a flipper....take your Heavy stick and your favorite plastic or jig and go to work. I'm not a flipper. When I go, I take MH and H rods with 15 and 20lb fluoro and never have an issue. I drag plastics, jigs, c-rigs and throw a ton of cranks. The blade bite can be good as well. As far as plastics I take, it's usually mag flukes, 10" power worms and full size brush hogs (wat/red, GP for colors). Cranks I take chart/blue and then some form of tilapia colors (like the DD22 Jellybean). For you, I'd just launch at the state park and head across to the dam and fish the community hole. Every trip I've ever been has produced a 9+ off those rocks or out in front of the dam. Depending on water level you could also launch that kayak at the Tigers.

OK to swing the gate open and drive down there? El Tigre Island Camp. Ask James at FLT or one of the guides like Jimmy Steed about access.

After a good beating with a flipping stick he headed the other direction.

Time to show my lack of fishing knowledge! What are Bobber stops and peg its and what do you use them with/for? It's a little rubber thingamabob you thread onto your line before your worm weight and hook. Keeps your weight pegged to your soft plastic w/o damaging your line like a toothpick or other thru-weight insert. Use them for all Texas-rigged applications where maintaining contact with the bait is critical. Like through tree limbs, in brushpiles or when punching grass.

Those are the kind that bite and won't let go until lightning strikes. Nathan, don't worry, there aren't any snakes on Falcon. I've fought more snakes off on that lake than all other lakes put together. I've broke three rods on that lake from swatting snakes. No, there aren't any snakes that far south so no worries.
