Hey there TFF...for the 5th year now, Wes and I will be hosting the crappie seminars at the Bass Pro Crappie Madness events.

Wes will be at the Grapevine store, and I'll be at the Garland store:

Friday Feb 2nd - 7pm
Saturday Feb 3rd - 11am and 2pm

Friday Feb 9th - 7pm
Saturday Feb 10th - 11am and 2pm

At both stores, we will chat about: spawn fishing tips/techniques, post spawn fishing tips/techniques, bank fishing, boat fishing, knots, jigs, rigs, rods/reels, fishing line, hooks, weights, creeks, kayaks, sunglasses, sun protection and anything else you would like to chat about.

It will be a fully interactive "round-table" type discussion with a chance for everyone to be involved.

We will also return our "30-n-60" segment where we cover 30 crappie fishing tips in 60 seconds.

It seems in the winter, there are a lot of big crappie caught as bi-catch by the striper fisherman out in open water.
Aside from using planer boards, long-lining cranks or spider rigging, what methods would you use to target open water crappie.

I haven't fished CRAPpie in years. Do you have to register or just show up? I'd like to start fishing for eatin fish. Mom use to bug dad to catch some because they were better eating than bass.

The 3 techniques you mentioned above are the methods we use to taget open water crappie. I'll include planer boards and spider rigging in the seminars...as Wes and I use both techniques with success.

No need to register. Tables and chairs will be set up down by the boats at the Garland store, and by the "fish tank" at the Grapevine store.
