I turned 70 last September. I lost my fishing buddy a few years ago but still go by myself. Being retired, I can pick my days during the week which is really nice. Like another poster said, public lakes are a different world during the work week. There is still excitement in launching at first light, motoring to a spot, and making the first cast. Where I have changed the most is I don't go in really cold weather much at all.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I'm 62 and I'll be retiring this May. I've been a teacher and coach for 38 years, so when I wasn't coaching football I was able to get out weekday afternoons/evenings. Now that I'm retiring I'll have even a more wide open schedule. Last November 15th I had a full shoulder replacement done on my left shoulder (I'm right handed) The physical therapy is going well and I've been able to fish with a spinning rod for more than a month. First couple of outings I took a young guy out with me just to help launch the boat and put it back on the rack. A couple of weeks ago I transitioned back to bait casting gear and fishing alone...zero issues. I'm a swimbait guy, but I haven't attempted to throw any big baits yet. No reason to mess with the good progress. I need to have the right shoulder done next but I've learned a bunch from this surgery so I have no worries. I thought about selling some of my swimbait gear, but my surgeon told me to hold off. I'm glad I listened to him.

Only 55 but feel the clock ticking on things like our big annual wade fishing trip to Venice. Got to make it every year as you never know how many more years you will be able to keep doing it. Really don't have the desire to tournament fish in bad weather anymore either.
Going to get the Peacock Bass trip to Brazil in this year. Can't leave the bucket list undone. Hang in there buddy, the best is yet to come. Don't pass up a chance to make another memory and a Peacock Bass trip fits the bill. Will be 70 in a couple of weeks. Definitely slowed down some but nowhere close to quitting. Birthday present from my son is a Peacock Bass Trip later this year. I also have a couple of trips to Florida planned to fish with another son and grandson. Falcon is also on the list but have not decided on timeframe yet. This is all in addition to the 4 or 5 times a week I am on the water locally. Got to keep following the dream...... Good for your son Troy! That is def on my list of places to go. Thanks Ken. Really looking forward to the trip and being able to spend time with him
