I have been unable to upload photos directly from my iPad off and on for over a year now. The last few months, no matter what I do, I get the needs to be JPG or PNG format error.
I just updated my IOS to 11.2.2, the most recent update. I still cannot up.oad photos without getting the error from the forum I mentioned above.
Can anyone help?

Have you looked to see how large the image that you are trying to upload is? Do you get this error message or a black box/icon?

Have you looked to see how large the image that you are trying to upload is? Do you get this error message or a black box/icon? Hey Cman, thats the error I get. Is it because the file is too big or because its the wrong format? I never changed either the size or format, and Im not talking Apples stupid live photos, either. This happens with photos I download from the internet and also I cant post them when I use the link function.

The error message means that the image is in the wrong format.
This is mac related. Save the image to jpg or png vs jpeg. Internet has a few tutorial on how to do that.

I understand that it means my photos are not in jpeg or png formatting. I am seeing that Apple decided to use a new format to make the images smaller, allowing for more photos to be stored and that it doesnt play nice with basically anything non-Apple.
One article I saw said I should be able to change the format settings, but that was for the first version of IOS 11 and appears to no longer be an option in version 11.2.
Thanks for trying to help, Chickenman. Ill keep trying to figure it out.

For androids, the fix to resize is to email yourself the image from the devise that the image is stored on. Resize the image at that time (70%, 50%, and 30% are my options I think). Open email and save the newly resized image. Upload the new smaller image.

On my old s5 I just texted the pics back to my phone and saved them, it corrected the format issue, my new Android uploads just fine

Using an Apple device if you save your pics to your files and upload the pic from your file folder it should work.

Using an Apple device if you save your pics to your files and upload the pic from your file folder it should work. Ive tried this, too, but my iPad wont let me save it to either the cloud or device. Both show up as options, with another option (Dropbox) but it wont let me select any of them. This makes it seem like a setting problem for me, but I cant figure out which setting.

I dont have an option to resize it when I attach it to an email, at least that I can see. I appreciate the suggestions and help. I dont understand how it could be this difficult.
