My wife wants one too. I'm all ears.

My picnic table I made was not sufficient enough to qualify as a farm table. frown

Buy a Kreg Jig.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Something like this? I had a buddy make one pretty similar, want to say it cost him less than $100 in materials to do it. He just downloaded plans and got to work. Painted the base a white color, then a dark stain for the top.

Here's mine. I've built about 10 now for family and friends. It's really cool to see my hand made tables in their homes.

I second the Kreg suggestion. Go ahead and get the actual Kreg brand...far better than competition.
To really do a first class top job, truing the lumber with a good table saw followed by surface planing can have a tremendous effect on fit & quality of the table-top joints. If you are going for super-rustic, you can skip the prep, but fit and unevenness can get quite crude with stock #2 material.

After longitudinal boards are joined for the top, trim each end with a circular saw using a clamped guide before attaching bread-board ends. I like to use a little glue along with the pocket-hole screws - strength is even better, and you can stretch the screw spacing a bit more.

I like this one: https://www.popularwoodworking.com/projects/the-barnsley-hay-rake-table

I still have that issue and plan to build it one day.

Just built this coffee table for a client. I'm about to do something similar for her for a kitchen table. Like others have mentioned, Kreg Jig.

This is old cedar flooring from an old store here in town.
