Hello. I was just wondering and read that few of you Texans have gone to El Salto, if you've ever booked/reserved through Ron Speed Adventures? If so, how are the accommodations, transportation and communication with them? I'm looking to do my first El Salto fishing trip (Father/Son) combo and was looking for recommendations and 1st hand experience with them.

First -- El Salto is GREAT. I went there with a friend from college and now I am trying to get a trip back with my son(s) Second -- You will get a bunch of people on here that support the Ron Speed group and then you get us that support the Angler's Inn group **** take your choice. I have not heard one bad thing about either of them. Angler's Inn just added the fact that you do not have to take your own rods. They have a great selection of St Croix rods, which we used, and had no issues landing 7-10 pound fish. .... just GO .... either camp I am the first to post ..... there will be more

I will most likely bring my own rods and reels. Ron Speeds is a little cheaper, that's why I was inquiring about them. The difference is, I don't think Ron's include the transportation to and from the airport??

Ron Speeds accomodations are good, food is good and service is good. They have van that takes you to and from the lake. I was a guest on a recent trip so Im not sure if it is included in the cost

I went to picachos two years ago and el salto last year with ron speed....have trip booked with ron speed to go to comedero in april this year... based on my experience, I would highly recommend them....the fishing was outstanding on both lakes, food and accommodations were great..... I carried my own reels but no need to go through the hassle of carrying your own rods...they have a large selection of high quality rods for you to choose from (at no charge)...

Alright .... I'll chime in for Angler's Inn. Cost "include" transportation to & from the airport in Mazatlan. Arrive and leave on YOUR schedule. Margaritas or soda or coffee waiting for you when you arrive at the camp. They'll fix you nachos before you go out to fish New St Croix rods furnished so you do not need to take your rods, just your reels .... very nice. Coffee (with Bailey's) or Bloody Mary's waiting for you when you wake up --- breakfast, your choice Van-trailer-truck, 200 yards to the boats on the lake. Well stocked tackle shop the food for every meal is cooked right in front of you and is fantastic, rooms are very close to the grill and the open air bar (2) Service is off the chart. I am sure both camps are GREAT .... both have their PERKS and differences ..... Just go to one and enjoy yourself.

If I go back I will be checking out this group...been to speeds camp several times. Food is ok and so is the lodging...nothing better than ok tho. I go to fish so its not an issue but I would like to take a step up..this outfitter seems like the only step up.
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I've been to numerous fishing lodges from Texas to Florida to Brazil to Venezuela and 6 different lodges in Mexico. Anglers Inn at El Salto has BY FAR the best service and food of any of them.

This guy knows "fishing lodges & food". we did eat & sleep good. Plus had the very best in SERVICE from the staff at Angler's Inn. I do not know what anyone would/could do to improve upon the accommodations, the lodge area, the food or the service at Angler's Inn El Salto. Plus,,, the drinks were pretty dang good ....... not watered down & you could request anything, for the trip out on the lake or anytime day or night. They even made our lunch for us to take out on the boat so we could fish non-stop. These folks will take care of you. This trip definitely changed my mind as to how I look at "fishing trips".

The last time I went to Salto I went with Probassadventures...when I go back it will definitely be with Anglers Inn or Ron Speed. Although we felt the lodge service was excellent and the accommodations and food were adequate the actual fishing experience was disappointing. Don't get me wrong, we caught a bunch of good fish including a couple of 8's and a 9. Our disappointment was with our guide who ONLY wanted us to drag lizards. If I'm going to spend the money to go to El Salto, I want to catch them the way I want to catch them. Prior to the trip I was told that they had a guide who would take care of us and our desires to throw swimbaits...that never happened. We had to demand to throw other presentations besides "iguanas". And when our guide finally relented he sat in the back of the boat and made sure we knew he was unhappy. Not good. When we compared notes with other fishermen at lunch and dinner their experiences were very different, but there was no way they were going to give us another guide. When I asked to talk to Doug I was told he was unavailable. I'm sure there are many guys on this site who have had much better trips with Probassadventures than we did and I'm happy for those guys. My advice is to go with either Speeds or Anglers (they each have pros and cons), either one of them seem to be a better choice.
