Does anyone here have experience repairing DSLR Camera's? I have a older Nikon D3000 and have an issue with the 18-55mm lens not making a secure connection to the camera body, as near as I can tell the issue is the piece on the bottom of the lens seems to have come loose and the camera will only work with this lens if you hold the lens in place while shooting. Wondering if that piece can be super glued down to re stablilze it? Your thoughts?

Im not sure if thats solvable by a DIY technique or not. Might take it to a camera shop for an opinion.

That lens is like $40-$50 used. I'd check craigslist before repairing for sure. Given that it's such a low replacement cost, I don't think you're really risking anything by trying to super glue it.

Thanks Hancock for that vid link patriot07: Thanks, I looked at our local CL and did not spot any used lens for my Nikon that were reasonably priced.

Sorry - keep an eye out. We see them fairly often in Dallas. If you find someone selling a camera with that 18-55 kit lens, they'll usually part it out from the body since most folks don't use that lens and would be fine buying just the body for essentially the same price.
The 18-55 is actually a pretty decent lens though - just limited on range and aperture. Good luck fixing that one. Worst case if you can't get it fixed and you need one quick, they're usually all over ebay.

www.keh.com has a good reputation for used lenses, and a very explicit rating system for the condition of the lenses. They have the Nikon Nikkor 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 G AF-S DX VR II for $115 and the Nikon Nikkor 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 G for cheaper.

Trebor: No rubber gasket, just a separation between the lens body and the bottom where it attaches to the camera body. This is my fishing and family picture taking camera that I have decided to start using again, I have a longer range lens for the camera 300mm I think and it attaches to the camera body just fine, problem is I use the other lens the most (which is probably why it is broke)
