I’m in Lewisville and my steering cables on my ‘93 Pantera II are stiff. They were replaced 4 to 5 years ago, so I think they just need removed, cleaned, and relubed at the tilt tubes. Any shops in the DFW area be able to look at it in the next week or so? Please drop me a PM if you are interested in servicing them. Thanks.

You can do it. First you never ever put grease on steering cables. It will always dry out and pack up.
Penetrating oil and carb cleaner and a stack of rags will make them good as new. Keep spraying and wiping until they they come out clean.
Then use silicone or light oil to lube and they’ll last a very long time.

Yes, Pat I’m thinking about doing it myself. I placed the cables myself. My garage is 40 degrees right now so working in it sucks at the time being.

Well now I’m officially needing hydraulic steering added to the boat. I snapped a cable, time to upgrade to sea star steering.

Dayum that’s some serious weight to break a cable.
Hydraulic is fine but do not think that the baystar will work. It won’t hold the torque of a B6. I got slung out of a boat with it installed. Don’t ever want anyone else to suffer that ordeal.

If you installed cables, installing a Sea Star won`t be any problem. The worst part to me is cutting the helm hole out and bleeding. http://www.lowcostboatingstore.com/
