Ok thanks I also build rod so I am looking at making me a rod for carp fishing
I'm building some poles, too. But IMO it only make sense if you know what do you want to build, right?
I need to build mine because I'm trying to polish my personal style of carp fishing AND I have bad shoulder: need it to be real light, whole setup.
For the beginner, I would never recommend building his first carp rod.
Rather, try couple of some nice inexpensive ones available online, and concentrate on other aspects of carp fishing because it is not a simple task to begin.
And after you will find what exactly you want/need, you will understand how your new (personal, custom) rod should work for you.
At that point (and only at that point!) you may start thinking: blank, handle, guides types, whole geometry of blank/guides, etc.
One more note: when you will completely understand the nature of the carp pole, you will find one very interesting thing: you can buy carp poles which are marked not as "carp", but rather "surf", like for example Okuma Cedros. Some of Cedros family rods are in reality English carp rods, they just give them different handles ))) Advise here is: if you see 12' surf rod with guides "6+1", you might start thinking "carp rod slightly modified for US market" ))
So be attentive and you may find exactly what you need without building )))
