Too late now, already got the HB running including $175 for a transducer shield and bracket to mount on my jack plate. I'll figure it out even if I have to hire Slade. Besides I already sold the Lowrance. I'm like the rabbit, I done jumped so gotta go now. bolt

Only if I get all this stuff working and don't catch anything but as stubborn as I am I'm betting I do. Use to catch'em with a 15' kingfisher, no trolling motor or electronics. Just tied up to a tree.

to the original question....sorry.

I have the iPilot Link and bought it planning on linking to my Helix units. I linked it on my old boat and it was ok. I found the iPilot Link features to be less important to me and on my new boat I opted to go with the Ultrex and Lowrance HDS stuff. The follow the contour is fun...but needed it so little that I don't miss it. Also, the saving of tracks and spot locks is over rated too.

These are my opinions. I'm sure someone has the Helix/Solix/whatever series and iPilot Link and thinks these features are worth their weight in gold. I thought it would be, and live without it fine.

I suggest you get Birds and Link it up....you might like it. Might not...but having the option would be worth at least having once to try it.

I liked having control of the trolling motor with the FF also. It was nice to drive by and mark a waypoint on the SI then just tell the TM to go back to it while I took care of other things. I don't have it now and it isn't a big deal. To me it is kind of a luxury item that you don't have to have but is nice if you do.

Steez...I'd like to be able to use the built-in transducer on the Ulterra to it's full potential. If I understand you correctly I will have to run HB's to do so.

you can run the us 2 transducer with other brands. you would just have to get the proper adapter. If you want I pilot link you would have to have a Ethernet capable Humminbird Unit
