Saw a few posts about Canyon so called my buddy up from Kerrville and we hit Canyon from 9-3.
Saw a few small schools on top at first but couldn't get to them before they were gone.
Graphed lots on fish around the 20' mark suspended, so decided to break out the Lead Core Trolling set up and rigged up an umbrella rig.
4-6 colors out.
Ended up with 7 keeper whites. Threw back 8-9 small whites & Stripes.
Caught 1 18" Striper. Mostly smaller males, 1 female with small eggs.
Caught most the fish from Potter to Cranes Mills pier.
No bites flat line trolling or jigging.

Fish on !

Ive been wearing the striper and whites out on Canyon. All top water action. Dont even have to mess with the fish finder. Mouth of the river. Cranes mill point, cranes mill marina.. watch for birds and splashes. Been catching them on flukes and spooks. Not trolling or down rigging. The fish arent really staying up but they are crushing just a few feet below the surface. I just get in the area they are coming up and start casting towards them. Not having any problem clearing 20 fish a trip. Its been awesome out there! Glad you found them

I finally scored on some topwater action at Canyon this morning. We found fish
about a mile up river from Cranes Mill crappie dock. Fish would surface sporadically
and only stay up for a short spurts. If we could get a 1/2 oz. Rattle Trap in where
they were surfacing we would usually get bit. We kept 11 nice whites and 2 stripers.
Conditions were perfect. Heavy overcast and low wind until almost noon.

Lots of fun and a tasty dinner !
