Hello,
Me and a colleague are going to Houston for some days in feb/march and would like to take some extra days to fish for bass. We are coming from Sweden so we are not familiar with the area and will not be able to bring any gear. I would appreciate any leads on fishing guides in the area that we could get in touch with. We will rent a car for the entire stay so we can travel. Tried to do some research but only found guides for seafishing. We fish for perch and northern pike here in Sweden and I guess thats why we are thinking of bass as a good experience when we come over. If you have any other ideas for guided fishing trips that we could enjoy do not hesitate to tell us.
Best regards

There are too many options to list. There are several outstanding lakes within a 2.5 hr drive of houston. It helps if you can take an overnight trip.
Consider day trips to lake sam rayburn for sure. It is an amazing lake. Overnight trips can include toledo bend and lake fork.
Day trips can include lake conroe and lake fayette.
Each lake is a noted bass lake in its own way and has different features.
Fork is a noted big bass/trophy bass lake. Toledo Bend has been the top ranked lake in the country several times. Sam Rayburn is just as good as Toledo Bend and is slightly closer to Houston. Conroe is closest to Houston but can Be a tough lake to fish. Fayette is a great lake for numbers but does not offer trophy class options like Fork, Rayburn, or Toledo Bend.
All good guides will have gear for you to use. Guides will also have advice on where to stay. Always account for a tip for the guide in the cost of the trip.
You will need purchase fishing licenses for your trip. You can get licenses on line through texas parks and wildlife.
You will get alot of recommendations on where to fish and which guides to use.
I hope this helps.

Go to Fayette County Lake. 2 hours from Houston. Best lake within a 2 hr drive of Houston for catching a number of soliid bass.
Lake Conroe is typically a few bites but you can catch some pretty good ones there. No guides really specialize in bass as it's hard to consistently get enough bites day to day to keep clients happy.

Rayburn is a tuff day trip, 5+ hrs round trip can make the rest of the week suck.
Fayette is always an awesome place no matter the weather.

I am in Houston and would be glad to take you on one of the local lakes, or I also have property with some private lakes that turn out big fish year round about two hours away.

Thank you all for your replies, very good information!
We're aiming for a one day trip so Fayette seems to be a good lake for us, I believe we will appreciate more bites over a bigger fish. Within ~2hrs drive is also preferred.
If anyone has a recommendation for a specific guide for Fayette please let me know
LunkerXpress I'll send you a message
