Part of the decision needs to be what type of boat. Talons can be to much for some boats but that extra depth that they give sure is nice

Can help you decide which is best, but need to know what boat, fishing style (do you fish shallow only at certain times, or year round)

i have a 2016 Blue wave pure bay 2000, mainly anchor when fishing for Bluecats when they are in shallow water. 90% of the time the wind is 10mph + on the lake i fish the most. i just want to be able to pull up anchor, fish and move to another spot when ready without jacking around with two throw anchors all the time. i do have spotlock on my trolling motor that i use a lot for white bass fishing. leaning towards the talons at this time, just want to here some advice from fishermen that use one or the other.

Thanks,

I have Power Poles and will have Talons on my next boat just to prevent having to store the hydraulic pumps and losing storage space.

I ran a talon on my boat for a while. I really liked it for the added depth over the power poles. Even at some courtesy docks it is too deep to use pp. It held up well in high winds and waves. No complaints about it's ability to hold, self contained and you can easily installing it yourself. The down side was my boat want made to hold the extra weight back there so it say low in the water and there was definitely some drag from it on the hole shot. To end it really had no effect.

Another thing to think about is if it is parked in a garage. The talon had a bracket to lay it down on the rear deck. The talon might need to be partially deployed which could cause other storage issues.

Either one is great, just depends on what you prefer

I too would suggest the Talons. Brackets are pretty easy decision as the options are to mount directly to boat if a flat transom and room to get to the bolts, mount between motor and transom (sandwich mount) or jackplate mount. If I can help, give me a call.

I understand wanting two. I did too but 1 wasn't so bad. You just had to plan your stop a little more. If I only had the money for one, I'd do it and add another later.

I've fished with both and prefer my Talons. When fishing "back water" with lots of timber, there were issues with the PP's getting caught up on stumps, logs, etc. while deploying. With the Talons coming straight down, there's rarely an issue.

I started out with just one "anchor" and as someone said above, you just have to plan your approach in regard to wind direction and the area you want to fish. This can be a problem with the person fishing in the back, but you can make it work. Saved up and installed a second "anchor" and two does make a huge difference.

I sell and install both. I prefer the Power Poles but it’s a personal preference. Let me know if we can help.
