I'm currently using a 7' MH rod that isn't perfect for jerks but that's what I'm here for--length specifically. The 7' I find slapping the water more than I'd like. I'm looking at the Dobyns Extreme 684cb. It's 6' 8". Is anybody out there using a rod around that length that finds themselves wishing they had a longer rod because their casting distance is that lacking or is it a marginal difference? TIA.
If you can't find em wind em.

I would have to think that the casting distance difference with a 6'8" rod vs. a 7'0" rod is marginal at best. Rod length also has to do with your height. The taller you are the easier it is to use a longer rod, and vice versa.

I use a 6’6” veritas. I throw a heavier jerkbait so no issue casting a mile.

7' Cashion here. I have a tail heavy (lots of grp 31 bluetops) Skeeter, so I can get away with it.

I use a 6'8" rod and really like it. I'm not exactly 6'3" either, but I think it's perfect for an under 6 footer like me.

I use the Dobyns 684 for Jerkbaits and poppers, I haven't had a problem with it, casting distance is just fine.

I think the shorter end (6'5-6'8) is better for jerkbaits. Easier to work IMO. I too us the Falcon Jerkbait special
