I went out to Cedar Creek and fished the first curve upstream and downstream of the bridge from 4:30 to 5:30. I used marbou jigs, as well as, the fly rod with clousers and poppers. I was hoping to find a few crappie but all I caught was bluegill. Water was good quality and just continues to get clearer and clearer.

I checked on Irwin Bridge. The water was down close to normal level and clearing up slowly. Same results, I only caught bluegill.

I would expect the crappie can be found and caught with a little more effort but I enjoy catching bluegill and sunfish on the fly rod so I didn't do any exploring today.

Lake Level is 238.68. Only 0.68 ft above normal and releasing 1881 cfs.

I visited with a few locals today that said that they were catching half limits or so of crappie from the bank in the creeks on minnows, but they are going through a lot of minnows to get them. The jug runners are really whining about the gar up in the coves on the main lake. The guys catching shad at daylight on the bank are reporting a quick run of whites and hybrids to the banks except after cold nights. I got carried away with jaw jacking and before I knew it it was 2:00 in the afternoon. By that time the wind had switched out of the north. I went and fished on big creek And fiddled around with some jigs for a bit, but only caught bluegill.....lots and lots of bluegill, along with a pumpkinseed and a big green sunfish I think.

Great report, thanks thumb

I really enjoy fishing for sunfish. Especially, big sunfish. I've been searching for green sunfish on the lake. I've found a couple colonies in the spring last year. I'll have to check out the big creek area. Also, we don't have pumpkinseed in this area, so I expect it was a Long ear sunfish. Longear are very colorful and have a white color on the tip of the ear. Redbreast actually have the really long ear flaps, not long ear.

I would love to see some pictures of the bream people catch on the lake.

Long Ear

Green Sunfish - they usually have orange on the tips of the fins

The lake level is 238.44 and releasing 1871 cfs. It is really receding quickly now. I bet they reduce the flow down today or tomorrow.

I actually caught that green sunfish in that little bitty creek east of big creek. There is just a small pool there on the south side of 415 rd.

There must have been some heavy rains somewhere in the watershed. The Lake actually started rising this afternoon. I sure was hoping they would start to reduce the discharge at the spillway this afternoon.

Looks like it's started to recede again. At a much slower rate though. I'm still crossing my fingers they will start reducing the flow sometime this weekend.
