It's a term baby boomers use to remind them of bygone days when plowing the fields and working for pawpaw at the mill required a larger lunch than dinner.

We grew up with Dinner being the biggest meal of the day. If that was around noon then we had Breakfast, Dinner, and Supper as the 3 meals for the day. If we had the largest meal at night it was Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner for the day.
