Will said Ben. My Cuz Jon Luxe and I went out today. Started out at Nails Creek at day break. There was a lot of fish there but the were not biting because they were to busy chasing each other around. We spent about 20 minutes there and caught 1 each. So we decide to over to Newman's Bottom and it was hot there. I caught 50 plus fish and my Cuz caught 30 plus fish. They are there go get them while you can. Great stuff, I was wondering how the recent rain would effect the fishing. Glad to here the fishing is still hot. Thanks for the report.

Great job Doug. Y'all are killing me. Work, Soccer games, taxi cab dad and husband duties are really hampering my fishing time.

J-Moe, it is just my blue deer tails jigs. I keep my deer tails and die them even blue. That is what I catch 95 % of bass.

I went to the Irwin bridge yesterday and it was slow. Went up and down stream saw some action in the water but they weren't biting. Saw black and white bass chasing shads. Was there from 6:45 until around 10am and saw very little fish being caught. Went to Nails creek and fishing was much better there. Limits was being caught and if you could get on a good hole you could get your limit in a couple of hrs. I must admit that Newman bottom definitely have the larger fish. Two third or better of the fish cleaned were males and most females were still full of eggs.

Do you use blue chenille for the body? I tie clousers with deer hair but usually use marabou on my jig heads as it has more movement. So it seems you have better luck with deer hair tails versus marabou tails. That's great information. Thanks for sharing, I really appreciate it.

J-Moe, I also used a blue chenille body and blue marabou tail that I started tying this year and it worked good also. It's just hard not to use what has always worked. Evening blue is lighting then royal blue but not light blue. Wish I knew how to post pics on here but if you want to PM your email address to me I will so pics. Tied up a bunch more for Thursday.

Would it be worth fishing the mouths of the creeks in a boat? Want to test some new electronics but also want to catch some numbers if possible. Was thinking rocky creek or birch creek areas as I'm not familiar with the west part of the lake in a boat.

I don't recommend the west end of the lake. It's very shallow, less than 3 feet deep. Most people take their boats up Nails Creek or Yegua Creek. Flat bottom boats with jet drives, john boats or kayaks since it's shallow.

How bad are the crowds on the weekends?
Any main lake places to go after whitebass post-spawn in a kayak?
It's a busy time of year for me unfortunately...
