Fish them on Lake Belton with 3/4 oz. football head. Had better success using the Garland/Yamamoto 2 piece Twin T vs. 1 piece Hula grub.

I use the Fat Ika a lot here too, being a west coaster, I try every little trick but the Hula Grub is a favorite of mine.

Hula grubs work great here. I fish them weedless on a Boss Ehlers shakey jig(GREAT finesse jig), or a Freedom Tackle Zodiac or football swing jig on a 3/0 Rig N Hook for heavier stuff. The hook is too long on standard swing jigs. The Zodiac ultra lite version is perfect for slow, swimming presentations. Sink rate is about 1 foot per second. Also works with a twist lock hook on split shot and Carolina rigs. Barlow's in Richardson usually carries them, but I just stock up during the Tackle Warehouse holiday sales to save money.

I used to fish them all the time on Grand Lake and wear'em out in pre-spawn. Don't ask me why I haven't fished 'em since I've lived here.....cuz I don't have an answer...

I use the chompers. Smoke or watermelon red or greenpumpkin. Smallies and spots love them.
