Just purchased a new Minn Kota Terrova, and come to find out the foot pedal is too wide for the stock recessed foot tray in my 2015 Ranger RT188. Does anyone know where I can purchase a boat specific delete kit (preferably made by Ranger) or have any other ideas?

Not sure what to do - any help is appreciated!!!

Thanks

Many people do not like the foot control and end up storing it anyway. I have seen the tray just covered with a piece of heavy plastic or something and the pedal mounted to it. Pretty easy to make something yourself. I haven't actually seen one manufactured for sale. I'd play with the footcontrol some and see if you even want it out on the deck. It's always been easier to use the remote for me.

I have a terrova and the foot pedal does fit in my tray, however I have to put something under the front of the pedal to raise it a little so I can use it, I prefer the remote but leave the foot pedal plugged in so I can use it if my hands are occupied or the remote doesnt work..I use the remote 95 per cent of the time..my son in law prefers the pedal and just sets it up on the deck, he finds it hard to use in the recess tray...so go experiment with it first you may not even like it in the tray..Just like Bobby Milam said, using the remote is a lot easier for me.

I keep the pedal in my boat only in case of a remote failure. So far, It is unused.

I make a plate (aluminum or starboard or metal and get it powered coated) that covers up the recessed tray. You can also fabricate a hinge on the plate and still utilize the recessed area for storage of small of items. Use Velcro on underside of foot pedal to keep in place.

Really appreciate the feedback ya'll. Looks like I'll be fabricating a new piece of sheet metal (aluminum 1/4"?) to cover the gap. I keep hearing that the remote is the the way to go - guess I'll have to experience it to find out. I did purchase the pedal as well though (this way I have both options - not a bad thing I suppose). Really lookin' forward to the new rig.

It's funny how I've wanted a recessed pedal for so long, and now I just have to get rid of it roflmao

Didn't it come with the foot pedal included? I thought all Terrovas included it. It's not bad to have. I'll use it now and then if I am fighting a fish and just need to make a minor adjustment but the remote is definitely easier to use once you get used to it.

Yeah, I think you're right. Apparently the new 2017 Terrova's now come with it, except for the 55lb thrust one (the website says: "Foot pedal not included on Terrova 55 lb. 54" with i-Pilot, item #1358805").

I guess what I meant though, was that I was looking at a PowerDrive at first, which has most of the same features I think? Minus spot-lock jog and a couple other things, and also the full pedal. However, the PowerDrive's with i-Pilot are remote control only though (the website says: "Note: PowerDrive trolling motors that come pre-installed with i-Pilot do not include the foot pedal.")

quite confusing research lol hmmm

Anyways, it probably wasn't worth the extra $$$, especially since everyone is saying the remote is fine. But hey - it's a toy anyways, and the spot lock button on the pedal is pretty sweet heheh.

Well, try it and you might be one of the ones that prefer it. At the very least, like I said, it helps to keep from drifting into brush while fighting with both hands and then there's the added safety of having it in case the batteries go dead on you. If it has the spotlock on the pedal that makes it nice. The older version didn't have it. You'll enjoy the spotlock feature enough that you wont mind giving up the tray. It is dead on now.

This is how I set it up in my old boat. Just like stated above I covered the foot pedal trey and then screwed the foot pedal to the plate.

Wicked, that's a nice setup. Looks like I have the exact same pedal.

Already cut out my aluminum tonight, just need to grind on it some, drill some holes, and find a sunny day that's not freezing to install the sucker.
