Cedar Creek, If you are able to walk from my drive to my dock. Open invitation

Very kind and considerate of you to offer. I could make the walk, but can’t make the drive to get there. Wish I could.

Depends on the wind when it gets real cold for me, but since I moved to Kemp last month I've been doing a lot of scouting in the creeks. I've fished cc for a long time for all fish species but now just crappie. When fishing from the bank it's harder in the winter especially when the creek gets muddy like it is now. Last week 8 crappie this week nothing but bass and bowfin. With the drastic change in weather you have to adjust your fishing and dress warm. Fish still have to eat all comes down to how bad you want to fish.

70 years young fished a couple weeks ago caught 20 nice crappies. Prefer 50 degrees with light winds. Make sure you wear your life vest that water is cold. I have fished when its been snowing and the fish were biting.

Great idea about the stirrup. I was fishing with a guide and a friend in February several years ago for white bass. I wasn't used to the boat and stepped near the edge and the boat rolled just enough to cause me to lose my balance. I grabbed the side of the boat on the way into the river. As I was going in the water and they pulled me back in, while they were laughing. Had I been by myself, I would have gone back to the motor and climbed up on the fins. I will make up a couple of stirrups soon. Thanks.

Once I hit 55 I wouldn't ice fish until air temp reached at least 35 and in full sun. Before that, blizzard conditions and temps with a windchill of 10 degrees were acceptable (though usually not productive).

Now that I'm over 65, it will be a cold day in h*** before I leave my house much less fish unless the air temperature is at least 40 degrees and partly sunny. Though I did do well last fall fishing in cold water that went as low as 38 degrees.

I'm 74 and I went day before yesterday. Fishing was sorta slow, might have been the 17 degree temp...or not. Anyway, I was only out there for about 2 hours and quit as I was tired of knocking the ice off all my guides. So I guess my answer to your question is....never loco

depends on the wind as much as the temp. If low winds high forties is not bad. With wind sometimes even low sixties is too cold.

Another factor is shade. If I am under a bridge in the shade 50's with a little breeze can get old fast.

58 years young, and as easy as it would'a been to walk 50 feet to the boat, lower it with my handy dandy wireless remote and head out, I've watched the cat whine to go outside again and again these past few days, only to stick his nose out, shake his head and turn back inside when we opened the door. Since he's got a built-in fur coat and said 'heck with it,' I figured I'd follow his lead.

Today, he's outside, so maybe this afternoon.

I will be 70 in a few weeks and I will still get out in the cold if winds are light and have some sunshine. I have put in plenty of time when it was freezing, had to keep sticking rod in the water to get ice off but really never found it very productive in those conditions. Also now that I am on the lake and retired, I can be a lot pickier about when I go out. Looking at the weather forecast for the next few days, looks like I may get out some and see if I can find where some of the crappie have moved too. Have not been out in about 3 weeks so I have to find them again. My best excuse right now is I am still waiting for my order of Lip Ripper baits to come in.
