Looking at Dobyns but none of them are jerk specific either primarily or secondarily. A short rod (6’6”-6’10”) with medium-medium heavy power is obviously the right set up but which rods do you have and like? Thanks!

I've tried a bunch, but always go back to the Powell max3d 6'10" jerkbait rod. It's perfect!

I used the Megabass Orochi XX Jerkbait Special and the Flat Side Special for a long time but when the MB US Destroyer OneTen Special was released I find it hard to put down. All the rods I mentioned have other uses as well but really shine with a jerkbait and especially a 110. You can get the Jerkbait Special and the Flat Side in the Levante series as well which are great rods too.

If I had to choose one though I would go with the Destroyer OneTen

I use a St Croix Mojo for jerkbaits and it has been very good. I don't throw one much so I won't invest a lot of money into a rod I don't use. I have used a friends Falcon Cara Reaction jerkbait special and it was really good but because it was really short at 6'5". As far as the performance one didn't out perform the other.

I have used the dobyns 705cb and really liked it, now im using a powell max 3d because its a shorter rod. The 705cb is a great rod if you want to stick with dobyns.

I’ve got the 705cb in the Fury line that I use for squares but it’s a tad stiff for the 78 DD that I put on so I’m looking for something a bit softer. 684 most likely.

Best jerkbait rod specifically designed for one.

I guess I go a little lighter than most everyone. Assuming we are not talking about big musky type jerkbaits I like a lighter weight/tip. The Megabass "stick baits" or jerk baits I use so often are fairly light baits to start with. Since you specifically mentioned Dobyns Rods: I use the Dobyns 703 in the Champion model. I understsnd your liking the "shorter" 6'-6" rods but I'm completely comfortable with a 7' (or longer) rod. I have several Champion 734's. They also work great for jerkbaits. The 734 is about as close to a "do everything" rod as you can get. Although it says "HEAVY" I would label it MH at best. Most Dobyns rods fish lighter than their labeled weight(to me). All that to say if I was getting a rod purposely for the popular lighter weight bass jerkbaits it would be a Dobyns 703 in whichever model(Champ/Extreem, Champ, Sierra, Fury...) that fit my price point or budget. Fishing jerkbaits in real heavy cover? Go a little heavier like a 4 weight(704). Good luck, 361v.

I was using the champion series 705cb glass rod, i really liked the action of the rod for fishing a jerk bait. but im only 5'6" and needed something shorter.
