I'm just curious, so no one take this the wrong way...
Is there any reason why most of everyone uses those pricier KVD crank baits vs using the H20 Xpress lures..? My boxes are full of H20 Xpress cranks and never an issue.. Is it just KVD name on the package..?
Same thing for spinner baits.. I see those $6-$7 KVD spinners, and then turn around and the same one with a different package for $1.50...
Just curious......

The H20 square bill is every bit as good as the SK at half the price, and I think they have a better sound. Outside of the square bills, I haven't thrown any of their stuff.

I use the lipless cranks and I have no complaints.

I have a ton of H2O crankbaits hanging on the wall in the shop and carry a handful in the boat as well. I used them a lot more before I went to using SPRO's and I can say the squarebills and jerkbaits are great other than the fact that the bills on the squarebill seem to be more fragile than other brands. I do not like the deep divers, they seem to turn on their side too easily. The lipless crankbaits (LCR and Rattlin' T) are my go to for sandbass and hybrids. Like I said I now throw almost exclusively Spro and they are 3-4x the price of H2O Xpress but I truly believe they are worth it, even if it is just for the confidence I have in them. With a good lure retriever you don't have to worry much about losing one.

I've used a lot of old crank baits in the past, Big0, Rebel, LittleN, Bagley, Bomber, and more. A few years ago tried the KVD models and had really good luck, then recently found the H20 and thats all I want to throw now, catches fish every time out, good price, lots of colors and many sizes. Only crankbait I buy now is H20 express.
Slide right, coming in .... Fish On!

As mentioned above, other than the deep divers, the H20 xpress brand cranks are as good
Its on lures that need tuning/balancing where the H2O lures fall a bit short Example: Their jerkbait weight transfer system is out of control. The H20 jerkbaits often dont suspend horizontallyinstead they can sink tail or nose down almost vertically. Now, you can use this wildness to your advantage at some times of the year. Their jerkbaits will do extremely erratic things that no other jerkbait Ive used can do-somersaults and flips on jerks and extreme rolling
Again, the H2O Express deep cranks lack consistency in their action and running depth. When you are deep cranking, you are looking for a crank that will reach the same depth every time and run predictably.
In summary, for lures where unpredictable depth and action can be an advantage, the H20 brand can be just as good. If you are looking for consistency or balanced action, you may get better results elsewhere without modifying or tuning the H20 option

I m not a fan of their jerk baits or deep divers. Will they catch fish?? Absolutely! But there are better quality brands out their that dominate the jerk bait and deep diver market. I feel way more confident when I am throwing them. I m definitely not a guy that is brand loyal tho. Theres strike king cranks I like. Then theres Rapala jerk baits I like. I m a big fan of the Deep little N. When it comes down to it I honestly keep a few of H20 baits in my boat as back ups just Incase I break my good lures off in the stumpy back waters of lake Palestine! I will say that H20 baits come with semi decent hooks for no extra cost. I have bought many lures in that $6-$11 range from more popular companies that come with crappy paper thin hooks. That I I immediately have to change out.

Caught my PB 12.3 bass on an H2O squarebill.I think they are great and wouldn't waste good money on more expensive brands.

I'm not a fan of all their lures but their squarebills are as good as anyone's....for way less than everyone's. I have an old one in the bluegill color that has caught so many fish including a couple 8's at Falcon that all the paint has been wore off. Good hardware and quality construction. If you are replacing the hooks right out of the box you are someone who overthinks everything :-). Get a couple in bluegill and a couple in chartreuse and you are set.

Best out there for the price. Colors just as good as higher priced cranks. 100% agree

Funny you should bring this up.
True story from last Saturday on Lewisville. I had 6 fish, all keepers on the H20 sq. bill while my partner only had one on his KVD. The biggest measured 22inches long and weighed 7 lbs. This has always been a topic of discussion, at the end of the day I'll tell you what, they get bit. Even if you changed the hooks you'd still have money left in your pocket.
I'm H20 on sq. bills, still not convinced on the deep divers tho... till I catch em and I suppose I'll quit buying all those other expensive brands here too.
haha

Caught many fish on their square bills. Fishing Fork and broke one off only to have it float up a minute or so later. Decided to leave it in the water as we were on them pretty good and did not wish to move. Before I decided to retrieve my square bill had a fish hit it and take it with him. No fish and no square bill.

I have not used the DD but have had good luck with the shallow and lipless. Now do I still buy myself a Rat -L - Trap, SK, or Rapala on occasion, heck yes, they have great action , they are consistent and catch fish. But day in and day out the H20 express lures do deliver fish, and I have had lots of fish on them. It also does not sting as much when a $3-$4 gets lost compared to a $6 SK and that price is conservative.
