Taking the wife on a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, FL, in early March for our 40th anniversary. We're arriving a few days in advance and hope to get out for a half day of bass fishing. Any recommendations for a good guide in that area?

I just got back from Miami and took my daughter and her boyfriend out for six hours with Thadeus Reagan. He owns Glade Bassin.

We fish Lake Ida which is very close to Ft Lauderdale. We caught over 70 peacock and largemouth bass in six hours. My daughter had a seven pound largemouth and four pound peacock. Yes I have pics to prove it.

I high recommend Thadeus! Really good guy, really knowledgeable, and will be on fish. I
Hope you and your wife have a great cruise. My wife and I are going out of ft lauderdale in January for a ten day to the Panama Canal.

Pm me or call me at 602-690-0803 if you have any questions or if I can help in any way.

Rich

Thanks for the tip, Rich... I sent Thadeus an email to try and set something up.

When I emailed him he was quick to respond. I know he was going home for xmas though so if he doesn't respond quickly that might be why. Hopefully you can get something set up with him.

Great place to eat in Ft. Lauderdale on the beach! Fishing pier right next door.

If you want to consider a saltwater trip, then try Good Hit Sportfishing with Mike. My wife and I did a half day trip with him before our cruise in October and he put us on a 6’ Sailfish and a bunch of mackrel also. Were only about a mile or two offshore as well.

Best Barbecue in south Florida and near airport.

http://tomjenkinsbbq.net/

Any time is a good time for a bit o' that brisket; some of those ribs; or a sandwich platter. Just remember -- Jenkins' is closed Sundays ("gone to church") and Mondays ("gone fishin").

Tuesday thru Thursday 11:00 am - 8:30 pm.

Friday and Saturday 11:00 am - 10:00 pm.

If you don’t have any luck with Mr. Reagan then you can try Capt Kim Morrison (561)523-3046. Went with him this Oct on a 6 hr trip also on Lake Ida and caught 65 Peacocks up to 6 lbs and 15 LM up to 7lbs. He also runs Tarpon and Sailfish charters as well. FYI bring a Bocagrip or some sort of glove as your hands will be toast by the end of the day as the Peacocks are mean...
