Had one when they first came out, I think I tried it maybe 2 times and threw it in the lake. I'll save you a few bucks,,, buy green pumpkins and a chartreuse marker, shad colors, and craw colors.

I still have the complete set of Rat-l-traps that are color matched and have the coresponding letter to match the colors on the dial. Never used them.

Yep, developed by an Okie named Dr. Loren Hill.

Dr. Loren G. Hill, longtime fishery academic and avid bass angler, passed away recently after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 68.

As the former Director of the Zoology Department and Biological Research Center at the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Hill was best known as the inventor of the Color-C-Lector, a device that helped anglers choose lure colors based on water and light conditions.

Okie by birth, Texan by choice.

I had one, and at Fork when it first opened, it showed blue or purple 90% of the time.

Works just like those helicopter lures that Roland Martin used to hype. popcorn2

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

The best crankbait fisherman I know is an old guy who learned to bass fish back in Tennessee and he swears by the one he owns. The first time he showed it to me was about 20 years ago (and it had a bunch of miles on it) and just to be polite I didn't roll my eyes or laugh. I'm glad I was respectful because he's still wearing my butt smooth with that darn thing. Could be that he's just better though. smile

I bought one when it first came out. Fishing with my dad one day and I pulled it out and he started laughing and said what's that. I told him, he laughed harder, he looked at the water and said "Red". I put the probe in the water and it indicated red was the color to use. Repeated this a couple of times at other lakes and Pop would call out a color and that selector would show the color he would mention. I tossed it in the lake and just took him.
