I totally agree with this. I love my 2015 Ranger 521c and I paid a LOT less money for the same boat the OP quoted.

Doesn't Ranger still 'warranty' used boats to the point they will "refurbish" to a point? Seems I read that recently. I'm sure there is a price point but that would add some flexibility to the search. Other manufacturers may do the same...

Prochoice Marine in Warsaw MO. Nitro and Ranger dealer. Best prices I have found. They were $10k cheaper than Cabelas and Tracker Marine.

Why are most boat dealers reluctant to show prices on their web sites for new boats?

because the price varies on how bad they think they can rake you over the coals. They want to see your vehicle you drive, how you dress, your general appearance, etc, so they can evaluate how much money they think you can be overcharged. And, believe it or not, your credit worthiness is part of their pricing structure as well.

....it's all a game.

^^^^^ So do I dress "down" or "up" to get the best price?

"your credit worthiness is part of their pricing structure as well."

Right on Steez, biggest decision maker on the price of the boat.

Your timing could be good for buying a boat.
Winter= Buyer's market
Spring= Seller's market

I bought a 1991 Ranger 375V dual console with an Evinrude 150. I had the motor rebuilt once. I fish less now but used to average 200 days. All they are is a platform to fish but now, because guys think they need to fish in a Cadillac the price is crazy. I still catch as many or more than all the fancy boats. And no payments.

I have been told by my local dealers that Ranger sets the price on new boats and it is not negotiable. I just got a quote on a new 520c and the dealer quote was identical to Ranger website price.

If you have good credit and start walking out the door, I find it hard to believe that any boat dealer wouldn't negotiate. JMI.

No way I'd ever buy new. Let someone else take that hit first. You can get a year old boat for a crazy good price if you're willing to drive for it

I've bought several new boats and they never knew what my credit score was! I did some research on prices and wore whatever clothing I was comfortable with. We reached an agreeable sales price and completed the transaction. You personally have to decide the most you are willing to pay for a new boat whether cash or finance. It's not that complicated. Ego costs guys a lot of money. Just buy what you can afford and don't try to keep up with the "wanna be pros". My Christmas present to you!

A. Because some manufacturers do not want prices posted. Also you can order two boats and they would be different prices just from little accessories that add up.

B. I'm sure anyone in any kind of business can tell you. Never judge a book by its cover. I've seen more cash pulled out of overalls than suits.

My old boss went to go buy his wife a new Buick after work one afternoon. The salesman looked at my boss (wearing work clothes) and told him that he couldn't afford the car he wanted to look at, perhaps a cheaper model would be better...
Boss walked across the street and wrote a check for a brand new Cadillac...

Give Fred a call at Diamond Sports Marine @ Lake Fork he's the #1 Ranger dealer for a reason.
