I recently bought a 2017 ulterra and it stopped stowing. The part that rotated the motor had stopped working. Sent it off for repairs and it came back today. Picked it up at the store and noticed the belt felt a little loose but not bad. Came home and mounted it back on the boat. Now it has about an inch of slack in the belt. Tried to adjust the screw to tighten and it is tight and feels like it is all the way adjusted out. It turns the other direction and loosens the belt more. I pulled the head off and looked at it and it appears to be all the way extended. I haven't even hooked up the electrical yet and don't want to try to lower it until I find out what to do. Unfortunately the repair shop and MK are closed. I thought that I'd check on here and see if anyone has experienced this and know what the problem is. I don't understand how it could get so much more slack just mounting it. It is only about 1 month old before I had it serviced so it shouldn't be a stretched belt, that much and that soon. I know it wasn't stretched before I sent it off and it felt pretty close to normal at the store.

Anyone have any ideas of what I could have done to cause an issue?

Did the folks that completed the repairs load the motor for you?

Probably nothing you done.
Check the connection at the bottom of the motor. when i got mine back from Minn Kota the first time it was not in the grove and came loose.I had to put it back in the block. You have to remove the 4 screws

I took it to a boat dealer where the repair facility picks up and delivers once a week so no they didn't load it, the dealer did. I'll look at the bottom tomorrow and see. I'll call MK customer service and talk to them. I was just hoping to get it finished tonight but that isn't going to happen now.

Thanks for the responses.

Should be some slack, but an inch is too much. should be apx enough to get a pencil through. If the belt is properly loaded on at the bottom and at the top, the adjustment screw should have enough "room" to keep the belt right.

I called MK today and talked to them and they didn't have anything to help. They advised to send it back for repairs. I really don't want to remove it again and wait 3 weeks but guess I have no choice.

Run it over to Don at Boris Marine with it on the boat. He may be able to take care of the matter right then and there.

Thanks David! give us a call were remove it and get ya fixed up. the cost of removal and re-installation is low. You may want to look into a quick release bracket for that. Most installs we do we add those in and it make the removal so much easier in the future.

I was referencing the possibility of repairing it on the boat while he waited.
