My friend and I are using Lowrance Elite5 & Hook 4. Both of us are suffering to obtain the clear image from fish finder in a still condition (EX. tied on a tree trunk, bridge pile, no moving).

Both fish finders work great for downscan and sonar images when boats are moving, but in a still condition, the noise signals are full of screen. Our setting: auto depth, High Chirp, We tried frequency from "Low" to "High" which doesen't help.

Any comments and suggestion are welcome. Thanks.

Mike

You'll only get a clear image on downscan while moving. While sitting still its looking at the same tree branch so the signal is just bouncing off that branch constantly.
